In First and Second class we continue to build on the foundations laid down in the Junior and Senior Infants. We enjoy practical Maths/Maths games one day a week in addition to the usual numeracy lessons.

 

In the First and Second class we begin Shared Reading. We enjoy reading with a partner and we discuss difficult words after each reading session. 

 

We learn lots of new words this way. For five of six weeks each year we use non-fiction books for shared reading. We love finding out new things and adding to our general knowledge.

 

In first and second we learn to write using cursive fonts.
